Well, I don't have much time (gotta go catch a train to the CinqueTerra!) I thought I'd better write something about what I've been doing for the past week. The first few days the fam and I spent in Turkey at my cousins' wedding--the original impetus for this trip. It was beautiful and the Turkish food was incredible! For the first time in my life I enjoyed eggplant. And it turns out that fresh sardines aren't that bad... so long as you can get past the bony crunchiness.
Then two days ago we left the Fletcher family reunion for Roma, Italia, which is where Iàm writing this from. We've been on a whirlwind tour of all the big sites (except we skipped the Pantheon for some reason... I'll have to hit that up later) and it was magnificent. St Peter's Basilica is beyond belief, and the collection of statuary at the Bourghese (sp?) was gorgeous.
So now Luke and I are splitting off and heading to the CinueTerra to soak up some of Italian culture, having spent the last few days getting a good dose of history.
I'll have more time to write next time, hopefully soon. Til then, God bless all!
Ciao, Matt
